Transfer Students

In order for students to be considered for transfer of credits, an official transcript(s) from the previously attended college or university, along with a course catalog(s) containing complete course descriptions, must be submitted at least three weeks prior to the semester start. (A course syllabus may also be requested.)

Students must have earned a C or better to qualify for transfer of credit, and the number of credit hours must parallel the course from which the student wishes to be exempt.

Students may transfer credits earned in an associate degree program from an accredited institution in the hospitality field into the junior level of the Baltimore International College bachelor's degree programs in Culinary Management or Hospitality Management. Each college or university transcript will be evaluated and the course of study identified by BIC before the student can successfully complete the degree requirements of Baltimore International College (a Bridge Semester may be required for some students). Additionally, for consideration of credit transfer, science, nutrition and/or culinary arts, and management courses must have been taken within 10 years of the desired BIC courses start date. ServSafe certificates must have been earned within the past five years.

An Advanced Placement test credit may also be transferred if the student scores a three or better. There are no limitations on other courses. BIC also considers credit earned from the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP). A student must have scored above the 50th percentile in a general education course, and the exam must have been completed within five years.

Credits, not grades, are transferable. Acceptance of transfer of credit will be at the discretion of the BIC Administration. No more than approximately 50 percent of program requirements may be accepted in transfer. Students with transfer credits may elect to take additional courses to maintain full-time student status as required for federal and state financial aid.
